Well, it appears the Philadelphia Eagles are intent on finding an option to stop the run. On Wednesday, they signed former Viking and two-time Pro Bowl DT Linval Joseph to their roster on a 1-year deal. Now on Thursday, the Eagles added a second Pro Bowler in the last two days.

This time, they signed Ndamukong Suh to a one-year deal, creating a veteran duo in the middle of their defensive line.

Suh has undoubtedly had an extremely successful NFL career by wreaking havoc on defensive fronts. The 13-year veteran is a five-time Pro Bowler and a three-time First-Team All-Pro.

The second overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft began his career with the Detroit Lions where he immediately became an impact player. During his rookie season, Suh started all 16 games and recorded ridiculous statistics all across the board. Here’s the full list:

  • 66 tackles
  • 13 TFLs
  • 17 QB hits
  • 10.0 sacks
  • 1 forced fumble
  • 1 fumble recovery
  • 3 pass defenses
  • 1 INT
  • 1 defensive touchdown

These are some incredible numbers for a defensive tackle, especially as a rookie. However, as dominant as Suh was on the defensive line, playing with the Lions brought very little team success. During his five seasons in Detroit, he played in just two playoff games. The Lions lost both of them.

Since that time, Suh has played with the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Rams, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2020 with the Bucs, he was a crucial part of an incredible defense that helped them win a Super Bowl.

After the 2021 season, though, it became clear that he didn’t want to return to the Buccaneers, but he did want to play football again. There was a period of time where it appeared that Suh could end up with the Minnesota Vikings to help bolster their defensive line, but obviously, that never panned out.

Now, he heads to the 8-1 Eagles with a chance to make another run to the Super Bowl. However, the Minnesota Vikings also sit at 8-1 and could stand in their way. We shall see if the two teams end up meeting for the second time this season during the playoffs. The most likely scenario for this matchup would be in the NFC Championship Game; it’d be a rematch of the game that took place following the 2017 season.
